Windycroft Reviews

We have just returned from a weeks holiday in Barmouth stsying at the amazing property Windycroft. What a fantastic location and view. Granted the weather was on our side all week which always helps but still a great house and base to explore the surrounding area. As explained in the property description there are a few steps to navigate to the property but well worth it for the view. The property itself is perfect for a quiet and relaxing stay. The car park pass is an added bonus especially during busy periods. Dan got in touch with us before our holiday to run through all details with regards to our stay and was very helpful and approachable. Loved our stay and hopefully we will be back again!
Wonderful accomodation, with great views over Barmouth Harbour and out to sea,and benches and a beautiful secluded barbecuepicnic area from which to further enjoy those views. The house is great, spacious, comfortable and very well equipped, with everything you could possibly need. 5 minutes walk into town, and footpath up behind the house straight onto the hills above. Already planning a return trip!
A wonderful cottage in a spectacular location with amazing views. Everything was as described and the host went above and beyond to ensure that we had the most fantastic stay. We would highly recommend.
Graham
Second time at Windycroft and just as good. Host Daniel still phoned to check we were ok and didnt have further requirements before we due to leave for our stay which is a lovely touch that we have never had before on any other rental. Windycroft is by far our favourite destination and we will be going back very soon.1010
The property is in a great location a short walk from the centre of Barmouth with fantastic views across the estuary. The house was clean, warm and spacious with plenty of room for the 6 of us. The kitchen is well equipped and the bedrooms were comfortable for all. The owner Dan was really friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend Windycroft as a base for exploring Barmouth and the rest of North Wales.
A lovely house in a beautiful location with stunning views. Very well equipped with easy access to great walks. Thanks Dan for your very helpful communications and advice. Highly recommended.
Graham
Had a wonderful time at Windy Croft, thanks to its amazing location, standard of cleanliness and finish and a very thoughtful and professional host. Views to die for in nearly ever room also made it a week to remember. Seven stars
Perfect location with wonderful views and great sized property with everything you might need. Very quiet and amazing views over the bay dog friendly and lovely bonus of a bbq area that sits above the house. Don't miss out on the walk to the viewpoint above the property for sunset. Communication and instructions were great and loads to do in the area. Highly recommend!
Great views, has all the facilities you need for a beach holiday, excellent location in the centre, free parking pass 10 minutes walk away, instant response from owner. Two things to be aware of is firstly, unloading and loading the car is a challenge up the steep steps to the property. Access is on a main road with double yellow lines which was very busy when we arrived so could not put our hazards on as instructed so had to find and pay for nearest car park and walk with luggage. The main car park with free pass was full as it was weekend so could not use it until tourists left that night. Secondly, the exterior of property area has no secure fencing nor gate with big drops to main road. We had a puppy so she had to be on a lead constantly around property.

We loved our stay at Windycroft. Despite the 46 steps up to the property, the views of the estuary and the mountains were amazing and so made up for the climb. The house was comfortable, quiet, clean and welcoming. No noise from the trains whatsoever. Good to chat to Dan before we arrived. Loved Barmouth too esp Bistro Bermo, the Bank and Fanny Talbot for food. Everyone very friendly and chatty, we will be back
Nikola
Windycroft was superb. Located close to the town with fantastic views, we barely noticed the steps up to the property after the first day. The house is very comfortable, and has just about everything we needed for our stay. We felt like Goldilocks choosing a bed as the choice of 3 doubles covered soft through to firm sleeping preferences. We were sorry not to sleep in the main bedroom as this was obviously the nicest room, but it was the smallest double and the mattress was way too soft for us. I would suggest new pillows throughout to improve comfort, and a new frying pan would have been great. But these are all small things considering we had a really lovely stay. The owner Dan was in contact ensuring we knew all we needed to make the most of the property which was really helpful in making us feel 'at home' as soon as we arrived.
This is one of the nicest holiday lets we have ever stayed in. Right from the start we felt very much at home and it is such a relaxing place to stay. On arrival we were touched by the welcome basket waffles especially and the milk in the fridge very much appreciated There was also a weekly pass to the Car Park a short walk away no more than 10 minutes The views from all the rooms at the front are amazing and I would never tire of watching the weather change and the tide ebbing and flowing. There are T.V's in all the rooms, so if you were a larger family you could certainly keep all ages entertained. There is also an xbox and booksboard games. A very good little radio in the kitchen as well. The 3 of us just relaxed though and did some reading but spent most of the time admiring the scenery. Husband & son also did a BBQ on the top section and said the sunset is amazing from up there. We were very lucky with the weather, but I also feel it would be just as nice in rainycolder weather. Beds were all comfy and nice linen. Plenty of storage space also. A good shower with a very decent flow of water. Really handy to just go into town centre at various times of the day. The beach is amazing as you can have feet in the water but you are surrounded by mountains too. We went to the recommended Mermaid chippie, very busy but beautifully cooked food. And were spoilt for choice at Knickerbockers Icecream parlour. Also a visit to Pieces For Places is a must, lots of gorgeous homewares and quirky gifts. There is a large Coop by the station where we stocked up on food to cook back at the house. When I was searching for places to stay I initially discounted Windycroft because of the steps up to the property47 There are a lot, but also the warning was helpful. However the pictures and promise of that view kept tugging me back. I do have a mobility issue but I did manage them okay left the men to carry the luggage up and they did get easier as the week went by. Just allow time to get up them. Finally really good and thoughtful communication from Dan. Answered all my odd questions about recycling differences compared to where we live. I'm busy saving to come back again one year.
Alison
Another amazing stay at Windycroft ! !! Beautiful house and surroundings with the most amazing sea and harbour views. Lovely welcome pack and great communication from Dan. Can't wait to return later this year.
Very comfortable and roomy property. Fantastic waking up to the harbour views in the front 2 rooms. Comfortable beds and couches. Very cosy and comfortable and great to be able to boost the heating if it went a little chilly. Felt special sitting on the patio overlooking the harbour and watching the sunset and star gazing. Clean and tidy. Lovely touch with the welcome pack and the binoculars
Wonderful house with incredible views. Brilliant location with a 2 minute walk into Barmouth. The house itself is a great setup, well catered for a family stay and with three good sized bedrooms, two of which can be configured to twinsdoubles.
We had an amazing week at windycroft, the weather was fantastic and the views from every room were mesmerising! Great access to everything, bus stop train station and shops. We never used the car once. Fantastic bike and walking routes from your door. Looking forward to booking again.
November 2024 This is a very comfortable house with super views and we really enjoyed our stay here. Sitting by one of the windows with a cup of tea watching the the last of a beautiful sunset fade into darkness was a highlight. There are many things to do in the immediate vicinity and I really recommend climbing higher up the steps by the house and onto the hill for some fabulous walks and views. It was great having the parking permit and the 510 min walk to the car park not a problem we were able to pull over on the side of the road by the house for a brief time to unload our luggage on arrival. The house is situated quite high above the main road into town but it is not at all noisy. You can hear the rattle of the occasional small train going past but all is very quiet at night. As many have commented on here, Dan the owner is very friendly and helpful and we really felt welcomed into this lovely home. Thankyou, Dan!
Cherie
We had an amazing stay. The views are really beautiful and the steps are a small price to pay for such a view. Communication with the owner was very good.
Alison
We just love Windycroft so much we've stayed there twice this year ! !! Beautiful house in an excellent position to make the most of its amazing sea and harbour views. House is so comfortable, clean, and fully equipped with everthing you need. Great communication from Dan, and a lovely welcome pack on arrival. Can't wait to return next year.
Christine
What a wonderful house, and that view! Definitely worth those steps! We had a lovely stay with family and a couple of dogs. House is in a very convenient location near to all facilities. Thanks to Dan for all the information before, during and after.
Selina
Loved this property! Location was perfect and the views were to die for. Communication with Dan was extremely easy and check in instructions very easy to follow. Upon arrival, the property was clean and tidy and even received complimentary wine, snacks and dog treats. The dogs had a lovely time and the area was perfect for them. Highly recommend and will hopefully be returning in the future.
Steven
Windycroft is an amazing property. Set into the cliff with an amazing view in all directions, this is a perfect house to stay in Barmouth. Full of character and very well equipped, it has everything you could wish for. Amazing walks, literally on your doorstep and the quaint town if Barmouth, a five minute walk. On an evening, you can sit outside and just take in the quiet surroundings, thousands of stars, gentle lapping of the sea and watch the bats swooping for insects. You may even be lucky enough to see an owl! We will definitely be back to Windycroft... the 43 steps up to the property may be too much for some, so bear that in mind. Highly recommended
We loved it was beautiful and comfortable and would recommend Windycroft! The best accommodation Ive stayed in close to the facilities in Barmouth and the most amazing views. Would love to return to this property and lovely part of Wales.
Dan the owner was incredibly helpful and friendly . The house is in such a perfect spot for the town with stunning views out to sea . He has thought of everything even down to a kite and binoculars being provided . We 5 of us stayed in August all thoroughly loved the house and could have stayed forever ! We had plenty of room to have individual time and rooms were big enough for us to enjoy together also. The parking permit was very handy too. I couldn't fault it ands would highly recommend it .
Andrea
Windycroft is a beautiful house, clean and comfortable with stunning views of Barmouth Harbour. We had a lovely stay here.
Louise
Fantastic holiday accommodation. The views were spectacular and definitely worth the climb which wasnt that bad!. Dan was very responsive and ensured our stay went smoothly. Will hopefully be back soon!
Lovely house with amazing views! Perfect location to explore either by car or train journey. Great communication with owners and everything you could need for a relaxing break.
Windycroft is in a fantastic position overlooking the harbour. As per the description there are a few steps to get up there but it's well worth it, the views from the lounge, dining room and 2 front bedrooms are spectacular. You really don't need a TV although there are plenty!, just sit and watch the overchanging view as the tide comes in and out. Very comfortable and well equipped and plenty of good eateries in easy walking distance. All in all a perfect spot for a great holiday.
This property is exactly as it looks in the images online. It's really lovely. Homely, clean, welcoming and most importantly has comfortable beds. The views are stunning. The steps up to it are pretty steep but worth it. The nearest car park, which is at the bottom of the steps is 8 for 24 hours which we thought was reasonable, or you can use the pass provided and park a bit further away for free. Communication with Dan was great. He's really helpful with any questions you have before going. Would definitely book again.
Rachel
Great property! Close to the town amenities, but also away from the bustle with a birds eye view of the harbour amazing views! Everything we could think of was provided at the house and the welcome basket was a thoughtful touch. Great place to explore North Wales from.
Victoria
Windycroft is a really beautiful place, other reviews said it felt like home and I was pleasantly surprised to feel that way too. When it came to the end of our stay I felt I would have liked to extended my stay to 2 weeks if I could have but it is a popular place and for good reason. I really enjoyed having the fresh air from having the big doors open in the bedroom in the mornings. The property is very clean with brilliant facilities, It is the best place that we have stayed at so far, I would definitely staying again. The property owner Dan was very nice, friendly and considerate, hes kindness was much appreciated. Thank you x
Alison
Just had our best ever stay in Barmouth at Windycroft ! !! The house is beautiful and in an elevated position that gives the most amazing views over the harbour and sea. Fully equipped with everything you need, clean and very comfortable. Close to beach and all amenities. Lovely welcome pack on arrival and great communication from Dan. Can't wait to return and would highly recommend.
Andrew
5 views from the accomodation, which was very clean and well equipped. 3 good size bedrooms and a kitchen with plenty of useful items. House was tastefully decorated and living room very cosy. The house is in a perfect location for exploring Barmouth and surrounding areas and we had a great week stay. We would definitely recommend for families or couples and we will hopefully return.
Sheree
What an amazing house, felt so relaxed as soon as we arrived. Perfect location, a few minutes walk from the harbour, beach, shops and pub. The views are just stunning from the living room, dining room and bedrooms. The house is beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. Especially loved the welcome pack, a lovely touch. The bed was so comfortable and we slept so well the whole holiday. Its definitely the best place Ive stayed in Barmouth and hope to stay again. Are a few steps to climb but worth it to get the views. Definitely felt fitter by the end of the holiday
Windycroft was a wonderful place to stay. Views were amazing. The property was very clean, and provided everything we needed for our stay. Communication with Dan was brilliant and we wouldn't have hesitated in contacting him if we had any queries. We didn't need to as it was so well organised. Probably the best place we have stayed in. As described and better. The welcome items were a lovely additional touch. Would definitely recommend.
Stephen
Had a fantastic few days at Windycroft, and as one review has already noted, its even better than the pictures! The view is breath taking, so close to town one way down the steps, and up the steps fantastic walks. Good mix of pubs and restaurants, shops and beach that goes on for miles. Dan was super helpful, and responds very quickly if any questions, and had good knowledge about the area and what to do. Would definitely recommend and hope to visit again.
Nadine
We loved our stay at Windycroft. Such a beautiful house in a stunning position. The views were spectacular. Everything has been thought of, the extra touches such as dog dishes and even dog shampoo were great. The welcome basket was a real treat also, thank you! Windycroft was so comfortable we didnt want to come home. Would definitely recommend, 5
Christine
We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Windycroft. The property was just as described and was lovely and clean. The views from the property are well worth the climb up the steps and the location gives great access to the local eateries. The communication from Dan was great and the welcome pack was much appreciated.
Had a fantastic stay at Windycroft with the family & found it a great place to relax, unwind & be creative. The house views are stunning, the interior is super clean, extremely comfortable & it has everything you could possibly need. The property is very quiet, feels remote & yet is less than 5 mins to a good selection of pubs, cafes & shops. Dont be put off by the steps or the slight walk to the long stay parking the house situation & outlook more than justifies these very, very minor inconveniences. Communication with host Dan was warm, informative & nonintrusive via email, SMS & phone & was a great example of personal customer service. Myself, wife, kids & dog cant wait to return
