Tyn Y Graig Reviews

Amazing cottage in a wonderful setting we had a lovely relaxing week cottage was cosy and well furnished, the views of the mountains and sea could not be beat a big thank you to all that make this such a special place hopefully we will be back.
A hidden gem nestled in the hills between Dolgellau and Barmouth. You wake up to views of Barmouth Beach in one direction and of Cader Idris in the other. The property is very well equipped and comfortable the only useful addition would be a washing machine. The directions for access to the property are spot on and we would recommend the route from Dolgellau town centre. The other route from Arthog itself is not really suitable unless you are driving a 4x4. You also have rail services from Morfa Mawddach station and we took the Cambrian Line to Harlech via Barmouth. There is plenty of free parking at the station itself. All in all a lovely little cottage in a beautiful, rural location which you won't regret booking for a relaxing break.
A wonderful place to retreat and get away from it all. Remote, yet accessible to towns and various walks. We found both the steep road and long single track via the numerous gates no problem. Our designated gate keeper got treats each time! Cregennan Lakes was beautiful as was the hike up to the lakes at Cadair Idris. Roberts cafe does the most amazing hot chocolate in Dolgellau, produced by the brother of one of the staff. With nice views across the estuary and local caught fish at the George III. You can walk straight from the property across to Barmouth which takes in part of the Mawddach Trail and was an enjoyable morning walk. Accommodation was perfect for our small family, with a well stocked kitchen. We would have found a washing machine useful, so did hand washing instead. The heaters worked well, beds were comfy and a lovely downstairs shower. Plenty of useful maps and info as well. Star gazing at night is a must, as well as hiking up the hill behind the cottage to watch incredible sunsets across Barmouth estuary and the sea beyond.
We had a lovely 4 night stay at TynYGraig. We visited this cottage as a family 20 years ago & it was wonderful to be back it has changed a lot since then! The cottage is set in a very peaceful location, with a lovely garden and gorgeous views all around. You can watch the sunset over Barmouth Bay between the hills. The cottage is comfortable and is equipped with everything you need. There is plenty to explore in the local area, lots of local walks, and the closest shopstown are 1520mins away. We will absolutely be back for another stay!

Wonderful cottage in a perfect location. Host friendly and helpful. Great walks on the doorstep of this peaceful rural idyll. Very well equipped with a real fire. A shower room and a family bathroom are very convenient. Bedrooms have large comfortable beds with plenty of storage. Downstairs sees an annex room for coats and boots etc. outside has a spacious garden with views to die for of mountains and the sea.

Lovely, well appointed house in the most stunning location. It was great to be able to just walk or ride out from the house and be straight into the hills. I would definitely recommend approaching along the longer road from Dolgellau passing the foothills of Cadair Idris not only is it the most beautiful approach but most people wouldn't fancy the steep, shorter route from the estuary, which is a challenge even for walking. We didn't use the car at all during our stay but we took lots of provisions with us, loading up in Dolgellau and making the most of our visit to Roberts for coffee and snacks. Lots of wonderful walks and very helpful owner.
Words cannot adequately describe this beautiful cottage and its environs. The views all around the cottage are stunning impressive mountains and the sea in the distance. The cottage is very cosy and had everything we needed. We were there for two weeks and were offered a supply of clean beddingtowels for our second week Diolch Llinos. Depending on the amount of traffic not usually very much it was taking us between 2025 mins to get through the estate to Dolgellau. There are a total of 6 gates to open and close once you enter the estate, with the last two gates taking you into the cottage. We never attempted the steep hill! There is ample parking for two cars. We had a lovely quiet relaxing couple of weeks, spending relaxing days in the cottage and venturing out to Porthmadog, Bala, Pwllheli, BetwsyCoed and Dolgellau. Thank you for the lovely welcome pack of very useful items. Would we recommend Tyn y graig 100 Diolch yn fawr iawn
This house was idyllic and perfect, our dream home really in an absolutely stunning and peaceful location. I've only marked it down slightly on a couple of minor issues. We had a bit of an issue with the water on one of the days where it stopped working, however, the owner of the property was super helpful and friendly and was on the case immediately and the issue was resolved really quickly within the same day. A washing machine would have been useful if we were staying any longer but this wasn't a massive issue for us. We had a really lovely stay and we felt really well looked after and would definitely want to stay again as we fell in love with the house and the area. Thanks for a great stay.

The house was beautiful and in a stunning location. The views were amazing. The night skies were definitely worth being out in the middle of nowhere. The only problem was the eight legged visitors we had constantly in every room of the house even behind the bed which had the biggest cobwebs ever seen which I had to hoover before we could get into bed. But we will definitely be returning to this beautiful house.

We had an amazing week in this great cottage in a stunning location. Our second visit to the cottage and Im sure we will come back again. Weve created some fantastic memories in the mountain and this cottage is central to them. Thanks for hosting us again.

Tyn y Graig is a true gem an island of tranquillity in the midst of stunning landscapes and distant views of the sea. You can walk for miles from the door, swim on the beaches of Fairbourne and Barmouth, stroll down to the Cregennan lakes or just relax in the garden listening to the birds and the lambs. The cottage itself is comfortable and wellquipped. The 'smart' radiators take some figuring out but thankfully we didn't really need them over a May weekend and for winter there's a woodburning stove. The track to and from Arthog is not for the fainthearted or nervous driver. But when it's open the crosscountry route to Dolgellau though longer is stunning. In the absence of humans, there is a definite attempt by certain other inmates to weave a web of their own around the ceilings and the corners. A quick sweep of cobwebs may be needed when nobody was in before you. But our companions all seemed very friendly and happy to relocate temporarily I suspect to the outdoors during our stay...
