Ty Uchaf was the best. It was an ideal spot for walking and the accommodation was excellent. Everything was provided for comfort and relaxation.
Another wonderful stay at this lovely cottage with gorgeous sunset views of Cardigan Bay. Its the combination of perfect property and stunning surroundings that keeps drawing us back. Set back from the main village road, the cottage is very well equipped with a grocery store less than a minute walk away. There is plenty to see and do regardless of your interests Dolgellau, Barmouth, Harlech, Porthmadog and Criccieth are all in the immediate area. We love walking and keep finding new paths to explore. Both Cader Idris and Snowdon are within straightforward reach of the property. Theres also lots for young children loads of lovely beaches boat and train rides to Fairborne Harlech castle farm park at Criccieth amusements at Barmouth and delicious Cadwalader ice cream at either Criccieth or Porthmadog! Were confident that there are still more hidden gems to be found well be back again soon!

Ty Uchaf is a beautiful cottage in a beautiful setting, a real home from home. It has every facility you need and more. The area is great for walking with amazing beaches, views and waterfalls all within minutes away and you are perfectly placed to drive to Barmouth, Harlech or further afield. We absolutely love it here.
We had a lovely week at Ty Uchaf. It is a delightful stone cottage with all the mod cons that you need today. Ideally situated to be able to explore the area with local shops, bus stop, railway station and the beach all within walking distance.

Ty Uchaf is a lovely cosy cottage and we had a fantastic holiday. Although phone signal was an issue the owners were easy to contact and managed to sort out any issues very quickly. We cannot wait to stay again. It truly is a beautiful place. Thankyou
Ty Uchaf is a real home away from home and has everything for an enjoyable, restful stay. The host couldnt be more helpful to any request and the location is just wonderful, with regular trains to Barmouth, Harlech, Porthmadog and beyond.
Great little cottage to escape to for a break away. Excellent facilities just like home from home. Would recommend for an escape in wales.
Had a fabulous stay as a family of 5 at this cosy, well appointed cottage. Weve come home refreshed and relaxed which is impressive for a January break! Situated just off the main coastal road, you get both peace and convenience. You can shop for groceries less than a minutes walk away and the nearby cafe came in really handy when we couldnt be bothered to cook. The beaches in the area are fantastic walks in and around Barmouth are spectacular and Snowdon was visible on one of our clear days! Finally, the owners are very friendly and helpful. They were kind enough to have the heating put on prior to our arrival so that the cottage was toasty warm. Weve already recommended this property and the area to others. Were looking forward to returning soon.

Weve had a great stay at Ty Uchaf, the cottage is cosy and inviting had everything we needed for our break. The location was perfect for our walking, visits to the beach and rounds of golf in Harlech and Aberdovey the latter accessed by train, the Dyffryn train station is only a 5 minute walk from the cottage. We will be sure to visit again

We have just come back from a wonderful weeks holiday here! The cottage was so cozy and although it is small, there were 6 of us grandparents, parents and children! and we had ample room for our needs. The cottage was so well equipped it was like home from home with everything we needed including games for the children and we could also log into our apps on the tv so we could watch films. The local shop is a few minutes away and was really well stocked. You can park one car outside the cottage with care but there is plenty of nearby free parking nearby so we chose to do that instead. Barmouth is 10 minutes away by car and theres lots to do with children. We enjoyed The Dolphin for traditional fish and chips, Saffron for a curry and Knickerbockers for amazing ice cream! All were child friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back as the cottage is so comfortable and in such a good location for exploring and there is still so much for us to see as we didnt manage to fit it all in. Thank you!

Ty Uchaf is an idyllic home from home in the most beautiful setting you could ask for. Glorious beaches and wondrous waterfall walks literally within walking distance. The house itself is perfect, with absolutely everything you need. Cosy and comfortable with offstreet parking and is a gorgeous base to enjoy everything Wales has to offer. My family have been five times now and my children have grown up excited for their next visit, as have my wife and I. We cannot wait to go back
Had a great time at the cottage, owners provided lots of information which was very helpful.
The cottage was very clean and comfortable, though access to the bedrooms was somewhat difficult for the less agile in our party and could be problematic for anyone with real mobility issues. The kitchen was particularly well equipped. Ty Uchaf is well situated for visiting many nearby attractions, including the beautiful local beaches. The parking is somewhat awkward and reversing into the lane beside the cottage makes it easier when leaving, as the main road can be busy at times. Communication with the owners was very good and the information provided prior to our stay was much appreciated. All in all we had a very enjoyable visit..
Clean comfortable and well equipped. One recommendation. A blind on the entrance door to cope with evening sun. Very happy.
It was a lovely cottage bearing true reflection of the advertisement. Would recommend the cottage for any family visiting Barmouth area in Wales. My only slight appeal would be to try to add one more toilet to the facility as it becomes a worry if users would have to take turns to use the toilet else l would have given 100 for facilities and maintenance as well.
Georgina
Excellent communication and instruction throughout the booking process and stay from the owner, everything we needed was on hand at the cottage with all the facilities we needed during our holiday. A perfect getaway property for our walking and golfing needs of which there are fantastic options for both, we are hopeful to return during the summer months this year. Many thanks Georgina
Simone
Cottage was so cosy and comfortable. The village and surrounding area was such a peaceful haven, we didn't want to leave! The walk to the beach and dunes was stunning and definitely a reason to stay here.
Joanna
We adored the cottage It was a great split bedroom so we had the double bed the kids in the next room but attached to us. There was also another double bedroom. It was a fab size and the area was beautiful. Shop at bottom of the lane and a cafe over the road. Robert the owner was outstanding with communication and he messaged and kept in touch. The cottage had everything you needed.
Property would benefit from a deep clean Parking outside cottage awkward as ... Property would benefit from a deep clean Parking outside cottage awkward as owner of the field behind uses drive to access with tractors etc There are no pubs in the village both have closed down

A very comfortable cottage, with all amenities, we enjoyed our stay, and seeing all the local area, it was close to some beautiful beaches, and Barmouth was a short distance away. Great to get back too, and relax in the small garden.
This lovely little cottage was perfect for myself, My husband and 4 children. We were visiting friends in the area and also wanted to be close to Barmouth but not in the thick of the hustle and bustle. The cottage was lovely and warm and cosy. Our children loved the quirky adjoining bedrooms which they shared between them two older boys in bunk beds and two younger girls in double bed. It was lovely and quiet and peaceful throughout our stay yet everything was close enough to enjoy. A 5minute walk to the train station meant you could be in Barmouth not worrying about parking etc for a meal or beach day in 10 minutes. Its a beautiful train ride to Aberdovey or Pwhelli approx 50 mins. A choice of Zip Worlds were within 40 mins drive from the property. The beautiful Nantcol waterfall walk was 15 mins drive away...there were walks galore locally. A good range range of Lovely restaurants and pubs are close by. Will definitely be back soon.
Kristen
We had a lovely week at this cottage. The owner had sent lots of information about the area in advance so we were able to make the most of the beaches and walks. Returning to a well equipped and cosy cottage every evening. The owner was responsive to question throughout our stay. Although much in the area was shut as it was the off season, it was perfect for us! We will definitely book again!
Michael
We loved our stay at Ty Uchaf. It was a beautiful setting, cosy little cottage with many modcons, comfortable nights sleep and lovely countryside around and about, local to all amenities and even a 15 local store voucher to a very convenient, well stocked store with most of what you could possibly need in a store. The only reason we haven't given 5 stars is just because of a few minor things really and perhaps one concern, firstly the concern is that there is no fire escape except the main door which being beyond the fire place could be an issue but hopefully won't be although we realise there is a smoke alarm or two in the cottage. Now for the minor issues Ideally there should be a manual for the oven in the manual folder, as it was we had a little trouble figuring it out but thankfully my husband managed to look it up on line when we viewed the cottage online we did a check and read reviews and thought we wouldn't need certain things as most folks had said they had everything they needed there and we noticed in one of the photos there was a cafetier, however when we got to the cottage there was no cafetier but there was an excellent tea strainer and a nice large milk jug so we used that instead. The overall cottage was clean and looked after but we noticed things like the oven gloves cushion covers needed a good wash and were stained and both bathroom and kitchen floor areas hadn't been cleaned as well as they should be as well as greasy finger prints and on all the glasses and cups in the kitchen cupboards as well as various other cooking materials so we had to wash up a lot of things before we could use them. Perhaps checks like this could be carried out by the cleaners. Lastly the lighting in the kitchen I've the sink was a little poor as the new spot light lamps didn't seem to fit in the sockets and sadly as I have a medical condition I can't tolerate strip lighting. I can understand why the stip lighting and bright spot lights in lounge have been put in as maybe folks have felt the need for them in the past. We were just so grateful for the bedside lamps upstairs in all the rooms as it meant we could bring them down to give the kind of lighting that could work for us so thank you for those. As we say all told still a lovely cottage and would highly recommend. We had such a lovely stay ang were not expecting the cosy fireplace. I think that must bea new addition since the photos were taken. Loved it. Would definitely love to return one day. Such beautiful views from the upstairs bedrooms and a lovely view from the kitchen too. Thank you.
This is beautiful cottage in a breath taking part of Wales, equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. like a home from home on holiday. we already miss it and will be back as soon as we can.
Very nice Cottage. Very well equipped. Good size kitchen. Nice garden area in front of the house with seatings Quiet area , short distance to shops. The beautiful beach is in a short walking distance. Pleasant walkings from the Cottage over the hills with stunning views to Snowdonia and the sea. This Cottage and this area is worth to come.
We had a great time and Ty Uchaf cottage contributed to that. A home from home! Comfortable with all essential provided. We like to travel to Wales at least once a year and stay in different places but Ty Uchaf could be the exemption! Lovely place.
Melanie
Fantastic little cottage in a perfect location. There was enough space for the four of us, the cottage had everything we needed. The area around is so beautiful and the beaches go on for miles. We were extremely lucky with the weather and managed to explore two castles, a cave and further North up to Conway. Would definitely recommend and would love to stay again to enjoy the beautiful mountains and beaches. The shop at the bottom of the drive was extremely useful and the owners were lovely would highly recommend popping in.
Tracey
This was our third visit to Ty Uchaf and will will be booking again in the future. The cottage is perfectly situated for exploring the area on foot or public transport. Fabulous beaches, stunning views and excellent walking opportunities. The cottage is quiet, cosy and has all we needed for our holiday. There is a lovely corner shop almost next door and a supermarket and butchers in the village.
Immaculate cottage, spacious kictchen, bedrooms and bathroom. Cosy lounge. Beautiful setting, very peaceful and tranquil. Lovely outside setting. Good location for lots of walking, close proximity to train station and beach. Would defiantly stay here again.
Ty Uchaf is a great holiday cottage, in a lovely little village, in a great area. The location is ideal, walking distance to a great beach. Short drive to Barmouth, and also near to great walking and mountain biking centre at Coed Y Brenin. You are within walking distance of a couple of pubs for evening meals. The cottage is as described, it provides comfortable accomodation. It is very suitable for 4 it might be a bit of a squeeze for 6. I would think 4 adults and 2 younger children is probably the max to be really comfortable. Kitchen area and facilities are super. The beds are comfortable, as is the lounge furniture. Which is important after an active day. The secure storage for bikes etc is great, it's a real selling point for us. The patio area, although smallish, is very pleasant with the garden furniture. A great spot for a morning coffee or a drink in the evening. Robert, the owner, emails and sends really good friendly information on the cottage and area in advance of your stay, which is a great touch. The only slight downsides are that, there wasn't a DVD Player at the property, on this stay. It's not a biggy but is a nice to have. The other thing is the cleanliness. The cottage is generally pretty clean when you arrive. But if you look too closely there are areas that could do with a really more deep clean, where dust has acqumilated etc. We are not massive clean freaks, and it doesn't really put us off, but I think it could affect some people's opinion of returning. Overall it's a lovely holiday cottage, which we have enjoyed and returned to which says a lots. I would definitely recommend it.
Cottage is lovely, tiny bit dark but that's the charm of these old buildings. Kitchen is big with everything you might need, there is an outside space with table and chairs. It's a perfect location, we enjoyed the village, always something to discover. Treath beach is massive, you can visit Barmouth, Harlech, nearby waterfalls etc. Definitely recommend the village and this lovely cottage.
We really enjoyed our stay. A warm and cosy house with comfortable beds and plenty of cookingeating utensils. The only downside was that there was only one toilet which was in the very spacious bathroom. The great grandchildren were delighted with the toys and the fact that we were so near animal parks which they loved. The local shops stocked a wide range of goods and the pub was within walking distance, the food was delicious and reasonably priced.
Excellent overall. Could do with an exhaust in the kitchen.

Charming and snug cottage in a stunning location. Beautifully situated with the coast on the horizon and the mountains behind. Great location to travel for day trips along the coast and into Snowdonia. The host reached out and could not have been more helpful, taking the time to answer questions and provide additional information on the locale. This was in addition to the already extensive and most useful information already provided in the welcome pack. Thank you for the venue for a wonderful week in Wales.

Our stay at Ty Uchaf was absolutely delightful. We were a party of 3 young professionals who were working remotely while spending some time in Wales. The internet was fast and reliable great for team calls and doing work. The cottage exceeded all the necessary amenities kitchen was well supplied, the bath was great, and very handy to have a washerdryer. The cottage itself was cosy and very warm, especially during the cold wintry nights. Bob was also very communicative and attentive, informing us of earlier checkins and late checkouts, and making sure we had everything. Definitely recommend staying at the cottage.

Our third visit over the years to Ty Uchaf and again the cottage is a true home from home. It has everything we need and more, cleanliness and comfort are second to none and the location is simply beautiful. You can park directly outside the cottage with ease and we just love it here. The beaches are incredible, the mountains and waterfalls are incredible and Ty Uchaf itself is beautiful. The owners are very helpful and keep you up to date with anything you need to know before your holiday and the shop at the bottom of the hill and the Spar just up the road have everything you could possibly need throughout your stay. I almost dont want to leave a review so we can keep this hidden gem a secret. We will be back Tony
Angeline
The cottage is ideally placed for sightseeing. It is very quirky and cosy. The stairs are very narrow and quite steep. There were issues, tumble dryer not working and the towel rail, wood worm treatment needed. Considering the COVID regulation's I would expect a higher standard of cleanliness, upon lifting the sofa cushions there was a dirty knife and a lot of dirt. Surfaces were very dusty, and sticky. The parking is a little tricky, having to reverse from main busy road up a winding narrow lane, but there is alternative parking in the village. We had a very nice pleasant stay and would recommend once all issues sorted.
Fab place to set up base, we had a fun filled full week in the cottage. Bob the owner is great and if you have any issues they are sorted out fast. The cottage has all you need for a comfy stay. Bedrooms big and spacious. Great little welcome gift to use at the local shop too. Absolutely lovely beaches..
