Ty Glan Yr Afon Reviews

The cottage exceeded expectations. It's in an amazing setting above the Mawddach estuary very convenient for all walksoutings etc. Its immediate surroundings are breathtakingly pretty with lovely views. Very comfortable indoor and outdoor space to sit and relax, eat etc. Comfortable bedrooms, cosy kitchen and a lovely woodburner with a generous supply of logs to start with. Very helpful and friendly owners. We will definitely come back! Thank you.
We had the most wonderful week. The cottage is in the perfect location, surrounded by beautiful hills and walks but a short driving distance to local amenities. Cottage was clean, cosy and in an idyllic setting to enjoy Welsh countryside. Kids loved going on local adventures. Some great pubs in the vicinity. Will be sure to book again.
A fabulous homely cottage in an isolated location perfect for a relaxing getaway. The highlight for us was the fireplace and log burner. Access to TV fire stick made it pleasurable to cosy up with a movie and a baileys! Plenty of walks from the door, which was great for us. There is a bus stop at the bottom of the lane with buses to Barmouth or dongellau. Hosts were attentive and responsive when needed. One of the best accommodation we have found as suited our needs perfectly. We will return.
An exceptionally comfortable house, full of character and steeped in local history. There are wonderful views from each window and stunning walks in every direction. Everything we needed, and more was provided and appreciated. Diolch yn fawr.

A lovely and cozy home, perfect for families in a gorgeous landscape.
A beautiful spot and lovely house. We had a really great time and the hosts were amazing thank you for the jam pan! Maybe a couple of details, personally we didnt feel it needed air fresheners, just fresh air was perfect and we couldnt store milk upright in fridge as the door shelves werent there. Id add some local info shops, pubs, bus routes and walks from the house etc in the info file too! We did have a really lovely, restorative time, we never once turned on the TV and felt like we all properly recharged! Thank you and would definitely recommend to others!
This was my third visit to this peaceful location. The cottage is comfortable and located in a lovely setting on the hillside, a mile up a quiet lane half way between Barmouth and Dolgellau. In August it proved to be a welcome retreat from the busy beaches. There was plenty of garden for the children and dog to play outside, although we had to watch that they didn't run off as it is not fenced.
We had a truly wonderful stay at Ty Glan Yr Afon. The location is beautiful and peaceful, with lots of places to visit nearby. Barmouth beach is just a 15minute drive away, and there are convenient shops such as Iceland and Coop close at hand for supplies. The house itself has real character and a warm, homely feel, which made it very easy to relax. The outdoor seating area and barbecue were perfect for enjoying the evenings, and added to the comfort of our stay. A delightful highlight was Mrs Lloyd, the resident cat, who came to greet us every morning and made the experience feel even more special. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would be very happy to return. Highly recommended!
Our second stay in Ty Glan Yr Afon was perfect! Location is absolutely amazing with sound of a stream, stunning views, walks from the cottage and short drives to beaches. The cottage is charming, spacious, well looked after. Beds are comfortable, kitchen with everything you need for cooking and dining. Lovely cozy evenings with log burner. This is definitely our favourite place to stay in North Wales
Sharon
Lovely cottage providing all that was needed for a stay.
Beautifully situated, very comfortable, lovely house. It could have been even better with a bit more equipment in the kitchen, for example soup pasta bowls, serving bowls dishes, baking trays. We bought a chef's knife and sharpener, and we sharpened the only knife in the kitchen as best we could. There was a loose connection on the oven which meant that it turned itself off and we had to very gently adjust the selector dial to keep it on. We'd definitely come back and recommend it to friends. The walking from the house is absolutely wonderful
Stayed here twice. It's a very welcoming cottage, in an excellent location.
Detached house in a beautiful location. Lovely and quiet. Well equipped, Bed very comfortable. Some nice walks. The road getting up to the house is a bit tricky, but you soon get used to it
A lovely cosy cottage, set in a beautiful area. Well worth the drive up the steep, narrow road! Some lovely varying views from the terraced garden. The garden isn't enclosed at the driveway, but it's a really good size, and a quiet area. The bed was so comfortable! Perfect after a day's walking, and there's plenty of local trails to choose from. Lovely and warm, plenty of hot water, and logs for the fire. Great view of the night sky from the driveway too! We loved the area, and loved our stay at the cottage!
Great location for going for walks, lovely cottage and comfy beds
A small under the worktop fridge does not provide enough space to store food for 5 people especially when on arrival on opening the fridge door to find all the shelves in the door absent. This meant we could not store anything such as milk or wine in an upright position once opened. We spoke to the owner about this but he just said he didn't know about it as his sister dealt with the cottage .Also, as noted by a previous guest the oven cannot get to temperature as the door will not close properly. There is a very steep hair pin bend when leaving the main road to get to the cottage which is a bit scary, thankfully we never met a car coming the other way. The cottage is in a lovely setting and very peaceful and quiet with some great walks straight from the door. We had good weather and were able to use the many seating areas surrounding the cottage I hesitate to call it a garden as it really is just an open grassy space.
