Minydon Reviews

We stayed here last year and we just stayed again for two weeks. A week with each side of the family. We absolutely love it there. Home from home. Everything you need and Fairbourne is such a stunning place.
I would definitely come again but I would like to see a grab rail placed on side ... I would definitely come again but I would like to see a grab rail placed on side of Bath to help you in shower and maybe a bath step but other than that the place is great my dogs loved the garden and straight across the road to the beach and the place is well equipped
Had a great stay plenty of space for everyone, and being close to the beach was a bonus, my only suggestion is some baking trays for the kitchen would help when cooking. We will definitely book again.
Excellent position, lovely area, great for the beach, the pool table was a popular element, but the property is lacking in many respects. It felt like a cheap bricabrac shop, tatty nick nacks, pictures and furnishings throughout. The lounge area was gloomy and cramped with poor lighting options get some lamps and 2700k bulbs. This is 'self catering ' but you'd be pushed to find cheaper kitchen utensils plastic and cutlery and not a sharp knife in the place. Also we couldn't use two hob rings without the RCD tripping. Wouldn't leave valuables in the house with such a poor front and back door lock, needn't worry about locking the keys in as leaning on the front door would probably gain entry. Generally felt like the owners didn't care much as these issues could be sorted cheaply and easily.
This property was everything I'd hoped for and more. Large well kept garden. Comfortable, well equipped, quirky and beautiful location.
Very pleased with our stay at Minydon last week, the cottage was well equipped, and pleasantly warm the weather was awful! !. Only observation was a larger fridge would have been a bonus. The games room was well used, and even got the wood burner going after emptying an overflowing ash pan!!! Would book again and recommend
Back for my 6th time ,some more improvements and added dishwasher was good. Everything you need for a comfortable stay. The weather was glorious all week ,and my 2 dogs love the garden. Will be back again. The milk and Prosseco was a nice touch. Thank you.

The location of this property is the only positive comment I can make sadly. I love Fairbourne and this is my 3rd visit. This property is next to the beach which was my reason for picking it. The property itself is in desperate need of redecoration. The photos on the website are very old. There are stains on the lounge and dining room ceiling. Wall paper peeling off in a number of rooms. The bath panel is broken. Cold tap in bathroom ready to come off. The shower is hot but has very little power. Cobwebs on the ceilings throughout the property. The windows are in desperate need of a clean. The kitchen is functional, but only one tray in the oven, making it difficult to cook a full meal. The carpets in some rooms are beginning to rise in the middle. The garden isnt as advertised, but still very nice to sit out in. The games room with the pool table is great. It really is a shame as this could be a lovely property.
This was our 5th stay at Minydon and as usual it was a lovely peaceful break. It wasn't quite as quiet as usual due to the film crew in the village filming a new series for Sky TV apparently. Over the years there have been many little improvements to the cottage, which is clean, warm and comfortable with a lovely welcome pack and many little extras. The beds are much better with the new mattresses, but could perhaps do with some new quilts. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the airfyer is especially useful. Minydon is in a good location for exploring that part of Wales, with many local attractions within easy traveling distance. We enjoy the proximity to the beach which enables us and the dogs to walk for miles. There is a selection of DVD's and games in the cottage and a separate games room which to be honest we didn't use this year but it would be good to help entertain children in bad weather. The garden is lovely and sunny and with the addition of the new fencing is safe and secure for the dogs.Perhaps some pruning is required as the trees and pampas grass are beginning to spoil the lovely views of the hills. The only negative issues really are all the curtain rails could do with some attention and the exterior of the property is looking a bit sad especially the front door.
We have stayed in Minydon before, it's lovely to walk out the door and see the sea. The first impression of the property the Front door is shoddy and the weatherboard broken. The porch is good for hanging up wet coats etc The living room feels dark and gloomy especially with the black beams and the large black hearth and black TV stand. The hearth is far too long to have a settee next to it, you have to be careful walking past especially if you're a little unsteady. The hearth could be reduced to the width of the Fire Surround it would give more space. The Dining area is great, roomy with lots of light whether eating food or playing games. The kitchen is well equipped, but the markings on the cooker have fadedrubbed off and we had to check in the book to see what they represented. The Air Fryer worked really well. It would be nice to have a dishwasher, as some of the plates etc were not too clean, the changeover of people is so large it would be much more hygienic. Under the sink is not too crowded maybe one could fit there.. Bathroom ok. Bedrooms were ok. The book left for information needs updating, the instructions for waste disposal needs a calendar as we put out the bins on the Wednesday evening but they weren't collected, is collection fortnightly? The heating was a bit hit and miss ie not coming on first thing or at night when you needed some heat, and some of the radiators had cold spots. It was a bit haphazard. The water was always hot whenever you needed it. Games room an asset! The garden was fine but maybe some shrubs could do with heavy pruning, especially as you first go on to garden. The Pampas leaves are like razor blades if young children are staying please be aware. Lovely views from Dining area whether it was sunny or rainy. Over all a lovely place to stay, just needs a little TLC
Our 3rd time visiting this lovely cottage. Its beautiful inside and has everything you need. I love that it has a nice bath and shower. The gardens big amd the dogs loved it. There is also a pool table and games room to keep you entertained. Beach is literally over the road. Its quiet and peaceful. Theres nice walks, sun, sea and sand. The sheep walking round the village made some lovely photos and the sunsets. See you next year
We loved this property. Very comfortable and cosy. Ideal location if you want a really quiet getaway and we found this perfect. Beautiful views. The only drawback is the beach is difficult to get onto although locals are trying to do something about it. We were left a lovely assortment pack of goodies which was well appreciated. I would definitely return when I can
Very nice accomodation warm and comfortable and clean. Lovely garden at the back and right opposite the beach at front. This was our second stay at this property we enjoyed it very much.

Myself and the family had a lovely time the cottage was lovely nice location the garden was all fence of for the dog and grandson the games room was brilliant spent alot of time in there thank you for letting us stay x
Maggie
Our 3rd stay at Minydon and we loved it. Everything you need and lovely garden to relax in. We had one afternoon where the rain was quite biblical but staying in the cottage for the afternoon was comfortable and warm. Hope to be back next year
My 4th time back,Ifeel like im coming back to a home from home, and have booked to come back at end of September again,My 2 small dogs love the secure garden too.
Nicola
2 radiators were not working but managed to fix with a screwdriver whilst there The oven shelves do not fit well and we felt we're dangerous The information on the recycling was confusing, the bin in the kitchen made us assume it was mixed recycling. This was not the case 2 curtain rails fell off and had to be fixed The TV was hit and miss and the aerial cable was badly damaged
Denise
Lovely place to stay, quite tight round the dining table but with a bit of rejigging we managed to fit! Kids, and adults, loved the games room. Lovely village with a great pub, shop and chippy chippy open wedssat but recommended.
Had a lovely week, weather not great but the cottage made up for that. Very spacious, comfortable with a secure garden for our dog Phoenix. Welcome packages for us and Phoenix. We are already looking to book another week. Thank you Jane, Neil and Phoenix

I stopped at Minydon with my Elderly mom and Dog, I must say I was very disappointed yes it's all ground level aas adviced, but there's a number of large steps in and out of the property which didn't make things easy for her we found the property dark and dated to much furniture, carpets all need replacing and could do with decorating all over, there isn't a washer dryer as in advert, views was good and cottage in good position, garden good for dog
My 3rd time back, really peaceful and comfortable cottage everything provided. HHad a couple of issues wirh the tv but the caretaker was there in 5 minutes and showed me how to work the sky remote, then because of the storm i had no hot water,he was back and relit pilot light on boiler so again very happy everything was taken care of.Will be back again.
We had a fabulous time at this cottage. The welcome pack was a really nice touch and the property was overall great. The only issue is that we couldnt use the outside table and seats as they were covered with red spidersmaybe red miteso that was a shame as the weather was good The location is perfect for walks around Fairbourne and of course having the beach literally across the road is a total winner Wed defo go again.
The location of the bungalow is its greatest asset being a minute from the sea and with a backdrop of Snowdonia. The bungalow was clean and three of the bedrooms are light attractive rooms the fourth's window overlooks the leanto area and is a dark room. The kitchen is largely well equipped and overlooks the garden which is large and dog friendly with lots of seating. However, there is no bin in the kitchen there is a dustbin in the leanto area which reached by going down two steep steps. The mattress on the bed in the green bedroom really has reached the end of it's useful life I can't comment on the other beds mattresses and the furniture in the dining living area is oversized and makes the space very cramped. There is a lovely view from the dining area but the lounge is dark , made worse by the very large black leather furniture. The only lighting is overhead with one uplighter which leans at a precarious angle. I found the room quite depressing in the evenings. Additional side lights would help enormously but there is no space for them. The front of the house needs some attention and tlc. The bungalow is best suited to four adults and two children and with some extra love and attention could be a perfect holiday home in a great location
We thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay in Minydon. A very comfortable well equipped bungalow with a safe garden for our dog. A perfect location...a stones throw from the beach with beautiful sunsets and views of Snowdonia from the garden. We would certainly like a return visit.
Fantastic location 1min to the beach ! dogs loved it,garden is not dog proof for small dogs ,as we have a large and small dog he managed to escape twice into next door, big dog was fine.Grateful we were let in early after travelling in the snow, so thanks for that.Kitchen well equipped with all that was needed. As people have commented shower not grate but good bath so not moaning.Lounge was fine , did think it could have had a door on as there was adraught from down corridor.Bed was a quite low bed for us but slept well.Didnt use games area but all was tidy and idea for a family fun night.Outside of building looked like it could do with a freshen up but its on the sea front and we didnt live outside.Out of season very limited things to do , we knew the area so were fine .And yes if we went back to that area we would stay there again
Perfect stay thank you . Straight onto the beach . The property was warm and cosy . It was just what I needed .
A very comfortable cottage with everything you needed ,and the extra wellcome goodies supplied were an added bonus including a little bag of goodies for the 2 dogs,a ball, treats, 2 poo bags, very appreciated. A very peaceful location.Would book again.
Denise
A lovely well maintained property which is very well equipped. We had a lovely week here. The welcome pack was very much appreciated and the two dog loved their packs as well. They also enjoyed exploring the garden. Loved the games room. Would definately come and stay here again.
Very clean and well presented cottage in a great location with plenty to do in the area. The games room and beach equipment were a splendid bonus for our eight year old.
Victoria
The location is superb with mountain views from the garden and a walk across the road to the beach. The bedrooms and kitchen are spacious but living areas feels cramped because of oversized furniture for the space. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and everything has been thought of. The games room and extra play equipment in the utility room and dining room is a great addition and having laundry facilities is a real bonus. It is definitely set up for families with children in mind. The beds are comfortable and plenty of clean fluffy towels provided. The bath is a great size but the shower runs slowly in comparison to our power shower at home, although the soft water is lovely for the skin. The caretaker deals with any issues quickly, but we had to communicate via Sykes on one occasion because voicemail messages were left and not answered. We were very sad to leave and hope to be able to return next summer.
Christine
Anybody who had children and books this cottage would be made up. Pixie cottage was lovely and there is also a games room. The cottage itself was lovely and clean. The bedrooms were very spaceous and the kitchen had plenty of utensils and an airfryer. The garden is very big and the dogs enjoyed having a good run around. The beach is very close to you and the sunset pictures we got was fantastic. We would definately come back here again as its become our favourite cottage now.
We had a brilliant stay here! The place was really clean and we loved the quirkyness of the property. Fab location with the beachsea just outside and stunning views from the back. Perfect for families and dogs. The kids lived the games room. Thank you! Would live to visit again sometime.
The house is a very short walk to the beach and there are several local walks. The lounge diner was fine for 4 adults but would be a bit small for more. The cottage was ideal for us, and the equipment was good. The garden was great for the dogs, secure and full of different paths they could follow. The cool room outside the kitchen was perfect for veg storage and feeding the dogs.
Melanie
