Hwylfa'r Groes Reviews

Beverley
We had a great weeks stay here, everything you could wish for in a lovely little cottage, well equipped and maintained. Great little garden, unfortunately we didnt get to make much use of. There are lots of walks to do from the cottage and only 10 minutes down to the beach. A lovely little pub 2 or 3 minutes walk around the corner Would definitely recommend, oh and a lovely welcome pack on arrival, bottle of wine, cake and biscuits for our dog Thankyou
An absolute gem, I stayed with my dog over the Christmas week and could not have wanted a better cottage. It was spotless, warm and very welcoming. Extremely well equipped, a real home from home. It was very conveniently situated for Barmouth and Harlech, with their stunning dog friendly beaches. There was also lovely woodland and riverside walks from the cottage. A pub, with excellent food literally 5 minutes walk away. Excellent contact from owners. I will definitely hope to stay again.
We had a really great stay at Hwylfa'r Groes. The cottage is incredibly well equipped for everything we would need and the communication from the hosts was great. It was really comfortable and having a log burner in two rooms was a real bonus. We would definitely come back.
Excellent accommodation and just right for the holiday we were looking for. The kitchen was especially equipped with everything you could possibly need. The welcome pack was extremely welcome after our journey in the storm. Unfortunately we had a small problem with the television not receiving a signal because of the storm. We contacted the owners who could not have been more helpful. The issue was resolved quickly. Our dog says we will definitely be coming again.
Easy access to site, convenient offroad parking. Very well equipped and comfortable beds. Spotless condition inside and a very welcome bottle of wine and a cake. Despite the weather had an enjoyable week.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful spot. Within easy walking distance to the beach and local pub which served lovely food. Would highly recommend.
Lovely cottage, excellent location for walks, close to the beach, close for short drives or bus rides to Barmouth, Harlech, Porthmadog and Criccieth. The cottage is very comfortable, got everything you need in a home from home, garden beautiful for eating out and BBQ felt very welcome. A few cobwebs and wispy spiders here and there, expected in an old cottage, but spotlessly clean otherwise there is hoover, and cleaning products provided to help keep clean and tidy.

A superb cottage, equipped with everything you could need. Very quaint and comfortable with a homely feeling. The garden room is a special place to sit in all weather. The painted bench in the garden is useful for enjoying the sunshine and the garden has nice sea views. The property served our needs of walking the Coast Path very well. Close to a bus stop and train station and a pub within walking distance. Plenty to see and do in the vicinity too.

This is a lovely cottage in a great location. It is a short walk to the beach and shop, and a very short walk to a beautiful old pub, set next to a stream. The Cottage has everything you need for a enjoyable stay and has secure off road parking. We also received a lovely welcome package.
This is our 3rd time staying in this property, we love everything from the layout of the cottage, the off road parking and how dog friendly it is. We always find the cottage to be cosy, clean and very welcoming. We always enjoy our stay here, and look forward to coming back in the future.

Absolutely loved staying at this cottage. The location was perfect and we had everything we needed in this stylish well thought out home from home. We enjoyed the garden area, made good use of the BBQ and diningpatio area during the warm evenings. Thank you for a lovely place to stay.
Lovely modernised stone cottage, well equipped and good location to enjoy beach and walks in the woods and hills
We had a fabulous stay at Hwylfa'r Groes. The cottage is beautifully decorated and has everything you need for your stay. Even though it was dog friendly, there was no dog smell or hair we don't have a dog. Owners communication very helpful and friendly. Definitely would and have recommended to friends and family and we've already booked to return next year. Diolch!
Rachel
Beautiful cottage, great location. Could walk to the beach in 15 mins down the lane. Barmouth a short drive, 10 mins. Very nice to have milk, Welsh cakes and a bottle of wine on arrival. We found it a bit too noisy being right next to a road, so not as peaceful as we would have liked! A few more logs would have been nice for the fire. Couldn't find the bbq equipment! We loved the conservatory in the evening, nice and warm, and the garden is beautiful. Great communication with the owners, and helped with a problem with booking. Thank you for being so considerate.
Angela
Welcomed with local treats and drinks, well kept pretty cottage with original features and blue sea view. Road was indeed busy as described, care needed to cross towards the pretty beach and station a few 100m away. Property was clean and owners were very attentive to ensure all was ok during our stay. Excellent access to local beauty, sand dunes, beaches and historical attractions. Lovely to come home to in summer and can imagine cosy with log burner in winter. Many thanks!
Stephen

Had a lovely stay at Hwylfa'r Groes, its a home from home and 10 minutes walk from a fantastic long beach for walking. With plenty of near by places to eat. We were greeted with a lovely bottle of fizz and Welsh cakes
Joseph
My partner and I would like to extend our thanks to Claire & Jonathan who when needed responsive to our minor needs. The cottage has all the amenities one would need. Decorated with that touch which makes it feel like a home rather than a rental. We appreciated the off road parking, as we like to park up and walk or use public transport. The had no control of the weather, or the off season restrictions but made the best of it. Our daily choices of what to do and where to walk guided by the bountiful tourist information at the cottage. Our evenings spent warm and comfy in the lounge enjoying the wood burner fire watching whatever we fancied. We would recommend the comfort and luxury of this cottage. Thank you again Joseph & Alison.
William
A really beautiful cottage, with lots of lovely quirky little touches. It is very comfortable and very well equipped, to help make your stay wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return for another stay in the coming year.
Lovely cottage and very helpful owners. We had a great time. Looking forward to staying again sometime.
A lovely cottage which was well equipped for everything we needed to make our stay perfect. Great location, close to beach, beautiful walks and local attractions. I would highly recommend to others. On arrival there was no odourevidence of previous dogs, so I would recommend this cottage to non dog owners as well x
The cottage was in a perfect location it was comfortable and cosy, because dogs are allowed we would have expected there to be a doggy odour but NO smell at all so don't let this put you off booking if you have no pets. Its a short walk to the beach and train station which is ideal if you don't want the hassle of taking the car.We will definitely be looking at booking in the future and I have already recommended to family & friends
Hwylfa'r Groes proved to be a very cosy and comfortable base for our holiday in mid Wales. Every room is well equipped and characterful. The location is excellent for getting out and about on foot or by car, train or bus the little railway station is less than half a kilometre away. Lovely sandy beaches mostly dogfriendly abound, and up into the hills it's just beautiful. It's clear that the owners love the place too, and care about its upkeep both inside and out. The pretty little garden was a delight, and quite secure enough for our little terrier. It's well worth filling up the bird feeders take fat balls and seed with you and you'll be rewarded with visits from grateful sparrows, robins, bluetits and maybe more. We'd love to visit again, to explore more, or even just unwind in front of one of the woodburners.
Rachel
The cottage has everything we needed and was a cosy retreat in a week of poor weather. The faulty hob was swiftly rectified with regular updates from the owner. The wine and dog treats on arrival were much appreciated. Great location with train station, good pub and lovely beach all within 10 minutes walk.
Just returned home after a wonderful week at this cottage. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival with gifts and card, and the cottage did not disappoint. Very well equipped with for all our needs, and a lovely little garden which our granddaughter enjoyed exploring. The cottage is a great base for beach visits, Barmouth and Harlech Castle. We would definitely recommend, and would love to visit again.
Maureen
A fantastic holiday cottage. It has everything you need and more. The owners, Jon and Clare are lovely people, and help in any way they can, if needed. The welcome gifts are really appreciated. We have used this cottage a few times, and we will definitely keep going back.
Sophie
The cottage is in an ideal location with a short walk to the beach and immediate access to the mountains where there are plenty of walks with stunning views. It is a 2 minute walk to the nearest pub and a short drive to Barmouth. It was very busy during our stay due to school holidays and plenty of sunshine so it was super busy in Barmouth hence this cottage is away from the crowds but close enough to drive to if you want to visit Barmouth. We had one of our dogs with us and dogs are welcome on the beach in Talybont during summer unlike Barmouth so another reason why this cottage was ideal. The cottage itself is fully equipped with everything you would need and the owners are very helpful and can answer any questions you may have with a quick text message. The cottage is decorated to a high standard with lovely welsh stone walls and lots of history. The garden is beautiful with lots of established plants and places to relax. I didn't need the woodburners as it was great weather but I can imagine in the winter the woodburners wood be very cosy on a cold winters night. This cottage is exactly as the owners description and we hope to return.
Lovely cottage with a view of the sea. Nice garden to sit in and watch the birds.
Our family of 4 enjoyed a wonderful 4 nights at Hwylfa'r Groes. The cottage was very clean and had all the amenities we needed for our stay. Great location and full of character. The kids loved decorations. Would definitely consider staying again. Thanks.
Victoria
Our second Christmas in this delightful cottage. It's full of old world charm and character but with the joys of a modern kitchen and 50 inch TV. Sitting by a log burner while watching the sea from a window was something I never tired of.
Lovely cottage, dog friendly which is great. Comfortable and easily accessible to beach. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hopefully will book again.
We had another lovely time at Hwylfa'r Groes, this being our second holiday there. The bungalow was lovely and clean and had everything that the two of us could need. The closeness to local amenities is good with a very short walk to a great pub round the corner and it is only a short drive to Barmouth. The road next to the bungalow does seem loud at first but this soon fades into the background and it is very quiet at night. If we were to stay in this area again we would definitely be checking to see if Hwylfa'r Groes is available.
