Bron Aber Reviews

Absolutely loved our stay at Bron Aber. Comfortable and quiet, it had everything we needed for our much needed break. Menna was lovely and came and said hello on arrival and showed us around the property. Spent most our time cycling, walking, birdwatching and just enjoying the surroundings. The garden was a joy with some impressive plants and was regularly visited by interesting wildlife. Also there are plenty of places to eat just a short drive away. Will definitely stay here again when we get a chance.
Found the cottage relatively easily with the postcode although bear in mind due to the location it is very dark at night. There is private parking for a few cars but I personally found it difficult reversing back out especially at night. There was no welcome hamper on arrival sadly although i did book last minute so maybe this is why however the lovely Menna came over the first evening to say hello and give a little intro which I appreciated. They live next door and were helpful if needed but also gave us space as needed. They had kindly set the log fire up perfectly for our arrival which was really appreciated. The garden is huge, the dog loved it. It is enclosed once you close the gate however a determined dog possibly could escape. My dog loved the garden. There was a note to ask dogs not to go on any furniture or in the bedroom which I do think should be mentioned on Sykes website. As for us its a holiday for the dog also and she enjoys a snuggle on the sofa and can't sleep alone so this would determine whether we book or not. We always cover the furniture with our own throws but this rule just makes it a bit less enjoyable for us all so if this is the rule I would have preferred to know in advance but we made it work. The house is detached which meant it was incredibly peaceful. It is also fairly remote so no noise from outside either. You need a car to stay here as there is not much in walking distance. The nearest major supermarket is a 30 minute round trip so also bear this in mind. The house was exceptionally clean. The decor was possibly a little dated but still very cosy. The living has a floor to ceiling window with the most beautiful views. The dining room is small but seats 6. The kitchen is again basic but has everything you could need. The bathroom is small however the shower over bath was hot and powerful. The main bedroom was plainly decorated but has 2 windows which have beautiful views. Both the main bedroom and twin bedroom are average size neither small nor spacious yet adequate. The 3rd bunk bedroom is very small. The wifi was excellent given the location. Check in is quite late and check out quite early but we made it work. Menna is such a lovely host and very friendly. I would definitely recommend this property and would happily stay again. Thank you for such a lovely stay, we had a great time despite the weather we really enjoyed our time here. Fairbourne, Lywyngwril and Barmouth are all lovely towns very close by which are worth a short drive too. Really not much going on in Arthog so best to take the car and go for a short drive to one of the many lovely towns nearby. The scenery here is just stunning and this is a major plus for staying in this location, simply breathtaking.
Cosy & comfortable with very helpful and responsive owners. Loads of good walks from the property or within a short drive.
Rebecca
Spacious, very clean and comfortable bungalow with a lovely private garden in a quiet location. The owner in the neighbouring property was very friendly and helpful. Fairbourne beach and estuary walks nearby. Highly recommended.
Lovely location and garden dog friendly. The owner was welcoming and informative. We really enjoyed our stay.
Bron aber was a lovely clean comfortable cottage so peaceful and relaxing and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay thank you Menna.
Amanda
Loved this place, spotless, comfortable, everything you need for a very relaxing holiday, Ive had a lot of holidays in past years and this one ticked every box. I really didnt want to leave. Waking up to peace, quiet and a lovely view. The owners are lovely people too and were extremely helpful.
Anthony
The cottage is beautiful in a fantastic location. It is comfortable and much more roomy than it looks. The owners next door are welcoming and helpful. We enjoy the views and walks from the doorstep. It is our 2nd stay and we find the local area fun to explore. Bron Aber makes a delightful base. It sleeps 6 but with only a small bathroom we think full occupancy would be a problem. We have lots of room for ourselves as a couple. A brilliant holiday
Carolyn
Another great stay at Bronaber. Despite the not perfect weather 3 generations and dogs found lots to do. The cottage was warm, welcoming and comfortable without being so precious that you had to worry and the hosts are super helpful and friendly. We had 3 vehicles which were easily accommodated. The garden was a picture and apparently perfect for hide & seek. We would definitely go again.
Heather
Just two tiny niggles. The door from hall into kitchen didnt shut, lock broken and several of the small windows were jammed shut so had to open big windows. Everything else fine. Comfy furniture and bed. Nicely decorated throughout and hosts couldnt have been more accommodating.
We had a super stay at Brin Aber! Our Hosts and Frodo the dog were super helpful and friendly Spent a week exploring the different coastal towns by day, and relaxing and taking in the sunsets back at the bungalow each evening. The bungalow was well enough equipped for us to self cater. There is a nice pub nearby with a great terrace and foodale. I'd imagine in summer the surrounding woodland is stunning! The garden was great for our dog with a secure gate that meant she could mooch around! Great walks literally across the road that takes you all the way into Barmouth or to the train station at Morfa Mawdacch to jump on a train, up or down the coast line !
Bro Aber is a great comfortable base for exploring the wonderful surroundings. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We had everything we needed for an enjoyable holiday and are going again in April which speaks for itself.
Lovely cottage, comfortable and practical and great for the dogs. Hope to return
Bron Aber as a holiday destination is a very easy recommendation. Spotlessly clean on arrival, warm, and with absolutely everything we needed for a fabulous week on the Mawddach estuary, we were delighted with our choice. The owners are very friendly, extremely thoughtful a welfare check and a torch brought to the door after a region power cut during a Sunday evening storm but not intrusive. They have found the perfect balance of wanting you to have an excellent holiday, supporting that, and giving you the space to do so. With fabulous walks direct from the door to local waterfalls, across fields, the Mawddach estuary and trail or further afield to Fairbourne or across to Barmouth, Bron Aber is superbly located for walkers and or cyclists. We would not hesitate to return.

Lovely comfy cottage tucked away in a quiet corner of Arthog in lovely secure gardens for our dogs ,we couldnt fault the cottage it felt like home immediately, friendly owners and some welcoming cake and milk was a nice touch , we would definitely stay again , the only slight negative was the TV and lack of channels but we took our Amazon fire stick which solved the problem , highly recommend
Comfortable, warm and reasonably wellequipped. Being able to easily turn the water and heating on and off at will was a real bonus. Good location for strolling to Barmouth, Fairbourne beach & Cregennan Lakes. Lots more, big and small, within a few miles' drive. No complaints about customer service. We asked the very friendly owners if they had a spare tea strainer or cafetiere since neither had been provided, went away with a strainer and a cafetiere turned up an hour later which really was going above and beyond. Could have done with some more kitchen knives but apparently they tend to go walkabouts.
Great place to stay, owner next door was loverly will definitely be back
Romain

Spotlessly clean bungalow in a beautiful location. Perfect for a relaxing break. Would definitely recommend.
The cottage is very comfortable with wonderful views and a beautiful garden. It's in a good position, with lovely walks straight from the door and close by. We would definitely like to come back.
Another lovely stay. Thats one in Autumn and now Spring. No doubt we will be back!
Bron Aber is extremely comfortable with everything you need. Menna is a wonderful host, nothing is too much trouble for her. The cottage is located in a beautiful area and has magnificent views. The garden is fabulous. We would highly recommend this cottage.
Really enjoyable stay at Bron Aber and would definitely like to return. Comfortable bungalow in lovely quiet and scenic location. Owner Menna very helpful and friendly. Thank you.
Anthony
We loved this charming bungalow with its quirky layout. The owner is friendly and welcoming with helpful advice and suggestions. It is in a delightful spot with great views. Sadly we were unable to enjoy the garden due to the wetness of the week we were there. However we enjoyed the excellent walks from the door even if we did return wet and muddy after every excursion. The cottage is very comfortable but may not suit anyone with limited mobility as the entrance is up a steep slope from the unpavemented A road. The only item we would have liked was a caftierre as we enjoy freshly brewed coffee.
Denise
We were warmly greeted and given a run down of the facilities. The bungalow was immaculate and extremely comfortable. We have two greyhounds and these were also given a warm welcome. A beautiful garden and patio area added to the comfortable facilities provided. A great time was had by both us and the dogs and a definite return is on the cards.
Bron Aber is a very comfortable holiday cottage. It is very well placed for walks and sightseeing. Our 5 year old grandson loved the Fairbourne steam railway. Barmouth had lots to occupy him as well. Menna Our host, was very friendly and helpful.
Bron Aber is a lovely comfortable & relaxing bungalow our host Menna was welcoming and always concerned if there was anything we needed. Our dogs loved the garden too, we had a lovely fortnight staying here and would recommend.
Robert
A wonderfully warm welcome from the owner. The bungalow itself was very tastefully furnished & decorated. In terms of cleanliness, I found it nothing short of immaculate! If your idea of a holiday involves commercialised entertainment in any form, you won't or shouldn't be looking at Arthog . . . If you want to enjoy a wander through the adjacent woodland or take some less energetic walks or bike rides along the Mawddach Trail or on the Barmouth or Tywyn beach fronts, Bronaber really is an ideal base! Arrived home only a few hours ago and I am already looking into future available dates . . .
Lovely cottage and garden, location is excellent for beautiful walks, lovely host, we will be back.
Samantha
Bron Aber is a beautiful cottage with a stunning garden in a fantastic location for hiking, biking and day trips to nearby towns and lovely sandy beaches. The house is clean and well equipped and the beds are super comfy. Menna, the host, is friendly and helpful. It couldn't have been more perfect. We hope to be back.
Debbie
This is a wonderful cottage to stay. Garden is spectacular and the views from the lounge are stunning. Lovely walks to nearby waterfalls and along the Mawdach Trails. Menna is the lovely owner and lives next door, so is always on hand for recommendations or questions. We stayed with our two dogs and the loved it! We can't wait to stay again. The cottage is clean, spacious and well equipped. Just what you need for a stay in beautiful Arthog.
Christina

Staying at bron aber far outreached my expectations, it was very clean very comfortable and had a fully equipped kitchen, i took my grandaughter who has special needs on holiday and the cottage was perfect for her needs, Menna and pred were very helpful and certainly go above and beyond to help and make sure your stay is an enjoyable one, I would certainly book this cottage again and would highly recommend to family and friends. Thank you both menna & pred xxx
Dennyz
Lovely spacious, comfortable & well equipped cottage. Wonderful view & a friendly host
We had a lovely stay, a very nice property clean warm and spacious. In a super position to explore the local area. A lovely host who made us very welcome. I would definitely recommend.
Great house, but needs lighting outside, as reversing car out of drive is a tight squeeze, other than that ideal
A much anticipated break for us had to delay our arrival though. On arrival on the Sunday evening the cottage was very cold soon sorted by switching heating on and lighting the log burner. Owner very concerned about this and we felt well looked after. Unfortunately the boiler which did heating and hot water started to produce a strong kerosene smell which caused the kitchen and bathroom to be essentially uninhabitable. On reporting to the owner maintenance was carried out on the boiler as soon as was possible and the rest of our stay was uninterrupted as the boiler was running smoothly after being serviced. Thank you for the prompt attention. We really loved the cottage and enjoyed the rest of our stay. The owners were very generous in offering to us an extension to our stay. We were not able to take them up on this, but had a late check out on the day of going home instead. This was much appreciated. Definitely recommend the cottage and would return in the future.
